Chatham Teen Flips Over Competition at National Gymnastics Event

Maddie Gapusan’s summer has been more than exciting.

The Kent Place School student who will enter her junior year this fall recently competed in the 2015 YMCA Gymnastics Competition “Flight of Champions” in Wichita, Kansas.

Gapusan didn’t just show up, she dominated.

Earning top-10 finishes in all events, including floor, beam, bars, and vault, Gapusan found her way to the podium with a Third All Around finish in the Level 8 Senior Division, besting 1,300 competitors in the five-day event.

The championships were designated an official Olympic Day event as well.
