Chatham Twp. BOE Rep Resigns Weeks After Hit-And-Run Charge
John Nonnenmacher's term runs through 2016.

CHATHAM TWP. - Chatham School Board representative John Nonnenmacher has resigned just weeks after he was charged with a hit-and-run when his car crashed into a fire hydrant in Chatham Borough.
Nonnenmacher announced his resignation over the weekend, newjerseyhills.com reported, and now leaves a vacancy on the nine-member board.
The board will have 65 days to appoint a Chatham Township resident on the board that serves both Chatham Borough and Township communities in the combined school district.

Nonnenmacher allegedy struck a fire hydrant in Chatham Borough in mid-November, then fled the scene, police said. When police questioned the township resident, he said he thought he hit something, but didn’t know what it was. At the time of the incident, Nonnenmacher had a suspended license.
It was later revealed that Nonnemacher has had 16 license suspensions over the last 21 years.
