Christian Education for children and teens, starts in September

There is no better foundation you can give your children than to understand they are the beloved of God.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church offers opportunities for children and youth to grow in faith throughout the year. We welcome children of all ages in Sunday Worship. Pastor Christa Compton gives a special children's sermon before the children go to Sunday School. Children often participate in Worship as readers, acolytes, singers,
ushers, and other roles. We enjoy fellowship events during the year to bring the church family together.

We are centered in Jesus Christ crucified and resurrected, the One in whose footsteps we follow. As the disciples of Jesus Christ we offer a living witness and testimony to the love of God in the world. The people of Gloria Dei represent many different faith backgrounds and stories, and we invite you and your children to come grow in faith with us.

Sunday School

Sunday School will begin on September 18 for ages 4 through 6th grade. Following the children’s message during Sunday morning worship, the children join their teachers to engage with God’s Word in their own lively manner. They return to the worship service as we gather for Holy Communion. In Sunday School we
want all children to experience God’s love, encounter the Bible in an age-appropriate way, enjoy meaningful relationships with other kids and adults, and grow as followers of Jesus.

Confirmation

Youth in seventh and eighth grades attend our confirmation class. We plan to start on September 25 with classes held Sunday evenings at 6pm. The two-year confirmation program includes an introduction to the Old and New Testaments, the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Holy Communion, Holy Baptism, the Reformation, and other topics related to a life of faith. Together we explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus and how we live out our faith in the ways we serve, worship, pray, study scripture, and give to others.

Youth Ministry

Our goal is for middle school and high school youth to gather for sharing of faith, fellowship, service projects and fun times. Gatherings are scheduled throughout the year and planned by youth and parents. There will be additional opportunities for retreats throughout the year.
