Contractor Took $8K And Did No Work: Chatham Borough Police

James Diliberto was arrested over a bathroom renovation dispute, police said.

CHATHAM, NJ - A Chatham Borough resident spent $8,000 to renovate a bathroom and saw that money flushed away as the work was never done, according to authorities.

James Diliberto, 49, from Butler was arrested after an investigation where it is alleged Diliberto received an $8,000 payment to begin renovating a Chatham Borough resident’s bathroom but never did the work.

Detective Andrew Chase arrested Diliberto on July 10 and he was charged with age 49 with failure to register with consumer affairs, failure to provide proof of commercial liability insurance and failure to have terms of home improvement contract in writing, police said.

Diliberto came into Police Headquarters for processing and later released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance, police said.
