Driver In Fatal Morris County Hit-And-Run Arrested

Cheon A. Lee, of Chatham, turned herself into authorities and is in jail awaiting her first court appearance, police said.

MADISON, NJ - Less than 24-hours after fleeing the scene of the accident that claimed the life of a 68-year-old woman, the driver of the Nissan that hit her has been taken into custody, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

Cheon A. Lee , 58, of Chatham, contacted law enforcement and took responsibility for the fatal
crash, police said. According to authorities, the Nissan Rogue was located in the area of Lee’s residence with heavy front passenger side damage consistent with the crash.

Lee was charged with Knowingly Leaving Scene of Accident Resulting in Death, a crime of the
second degree, police said. She was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a first appearance in court, police said.

According to authorities, Lee was driving the car that struck the woman on Green Village Road in Madison Friday and then fled the scene. After the crash, the vehicle was last seen continuing north on Green Village Road, making a right onto Kings Road and was last observed traveling eastbound on Kings Road past the Madison Area YMCA at approximately 5:15 p.m., police said

The pedestrian was critically injured in the incident and was pronounced deceased at Morristown Medical Center, and their identity was not released by authorities.
