Drug Arrest After Traffic Stop: Chatham Police

Thomas Figurelli was pulled over for using a cell phone while driving, police said.

CHATHAM, NJ - A 58-year-old West Orange man was arrested and charged with drug possession after a motor vehicle stop on June 8, according to the Chatham Borough Police Department.

According to authorities, at approximately 11:15 a.m. Officer Kyle Czerniak arrested Thomas
Figurelli and charged him with possession of less than 50 grams of suspected marijuana.

Czerniak saw Figurelli using a cellular phone while driving and initiated a motor vehicle stop, police said. While speaking with Figurelli, Czerniak detected the odor of marijuana and Figurelli was questioned and admitted to possessing the contraband, police said.

He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for processing. In addition to the above charge, Figurelli was issued a traffic summons for using a cellular phone while driving and released pending a court appearance, police said.
