Drunk Driver Charged With Assault: Chatham Boro Police

Deborah Seiden was involved in a car crash on North Passaic Avenue, police said.

CHATHAM, NJ - A 43-year-old Livingston woman was charged with driving under the influence after a car crash on Aug. 2, according to the Chatham Boro Police Department.

According to authorities, Officer Howard Craig and Sergeant Wayne Shivers were investigating a motor vehicle crash on North Passaic Avenue. While interviewing Deborah Seiden, Craig made several observations and requested that she perform some field balance tests.

Upon completion of the tests, Seiden was taken into custody and transported to the Madison Police Department. She was administered a breath test and then transported to the Chatham Borough Police Department to complete her processing.

Seiden and charged her with driving while under the influence and issued a motor vehicle summons for failure to keep to the right side of the roadway and reckless driving, police said.

She was also charged with assault by an automobile, police said.

She was later released into the care of a family member pending a court appearance.

The driver of the other vehicle was examined by members of the Chatham Emergency Squad but refused any further medical attention.
