Drunk Driver Crashed Car: Chatham Township Police

Matthew Temple slammed into a utility pole, police said.

CHATHAM, NJ - A 21-year-old Brooklyn, NY, man was arrested after crashing his car into a utility pole while under the influence of alcohol on March 11, according to the Chatham Township Police Department.

According to authorities, Chatham Township Officers responded to the 400 block of Green Village Road for a one car motor vehicle accident shortly before 3 a.m. Upon arrival officers observed that a vehicle had crashed into a utility pole. The driver, Matthew Temple, was not injured in the accident, police said.

A further investigation and roadside sobriety testing revealed that Temple was under the influence of alcohol, police said. He was subsequently placed under arrest by officers for driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters for processing, police said.

Temple was charged with reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, being an unlicensed driver and driving while intoxicated, police said.

After processing he was released to a family member pending court action.
