Drunk Driver Hit New Jersey Transit Bus, Fled Scene: Chatham Police
When the driver fled, he left his front license plate at the scene.

CHATHAM, NJ— A driver who struck a New Jersey Transit bus before fleeing the scene was drunk, Chatham Borough Police said.
A black Jeep struck the bus in the intersection of South Passaic Avenue and Main Street on Feb. 2 at 10:15 p.m. The driver and an eyewitness told police the bus had the green light.
No passengers were on the bus at the time, and no injuries were reported, Chatham Police told Patch.

The Jeep fled, but left behind the front license plate. Police followed the car to a Jackson Avenue home, and after a brief investigation, arrested Christopher Carlin, 49.
Carlin was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to provide breath samples, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and hindering his own apprehension.
