'Erratic Driving' Leads To DWI Arrest: Chatham Police
Kevin Murphy was arrested after a roadside investigation, police said.
CHATHAM, NJ - A 45-year-old Gillette man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after being stopped for driving erratically, according to the Chatham Township Police.
According to authorities, Patrolman Nicholas Giordano was monitoring traffic on Woodland Avenue when he observed a vehicle driving erratically. Initiating a motor vehicle stop, Giordano conducted a brief roadside investigation.
While speaking with the driver, Kevin Murphy, Giordano noticed several open bottles of alcohol inside of the vehicle, police said. After a roadside sobriety test Murphy was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, police said.

Murphy was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Possession of an Open Container of Alcoholic Beverage and other motor vehicle violations, police said.
Murphy was released pending a future Municipal Court date.
