
On Saturday, April 28th, at 12:30 PM, at Charlie Brown’s, Chatham Township, the Air force Association Chapter195 will sponsor a talk on Capt Bertil Bentzlin, WWII B-17 Pilot, by his widow Mary Bentzlin, retired teacher, Morris Township, NJ.
He enlisted in Minnesota, was trained as a B-17 pilot and sent to Molesworth, England, and assigned to the 360th Bomb Squadron in February 1945 where he flew 23 missions. He lost two brothers during the war, his older brother, 1st Lt Conrade Bentzlin, who served as a pilot in the 82nd Fighter Group over Africa, and a younger brother, 1st Lt Carl Bentzlin, who served as a navigator with the 721st Squadron of the 450th Bombardment Group.
Capt Bertil Bentzlin served as a pilot in the Viet Nam War and flew for Eastern Airlines and the Flying Tigers. He met his wife Mary in Florida and after they married moved to Morris Township in 1949. He died in October 1999.
