Chatham Area Artisans Guild exhibiting at Gallery 54 in Chatham

Gallery 54, in the municipal building at 54 Fairmount Ave, Chatham will host the first exhibit of The Chatham Area Artisans Guild (CAAG). The show will be on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 1 to 4 p.m.  CAAG invites you to stop in to meet the members and view their work.

The Guild represents local area artists and artisans with full time businesses in the applied arts and crafts. Formed in 2010 to pool resources in the face of a recession, the guild strives to promote and grow the individual business through community awareness, while at the same time serving as a source of references for guild members to the community.

New members are vetted for integrity as well as for the quality of their work, thereby providing area residents with a level of comfort and familiarity that sometimes only comes after many years. The purchase of quality art and craft is highly personal and often takes place over a period of time.

Having an organization such as CAAG brings the transaction to “Main Street”. It adds a layer of trust and confidence to all involved and supports the Guild’s motto of “Buy Local!” which helps local commerce to thrive.

Guild members include Bill Fagnant, furniture maker, of Chatham Workshop; Betty McGeehan, sculptor, of McGeehan Studio; David Hill, metal sculptor, of Walkley Works; Dezi Folenta, cabinetry and furniture designer/craftsman, of Spring Street Dezigns; Yolanda Fundora, textile designer and illustrator, of Urban Amish Designs; and Joni Rose, fine artist, of Joni Rose Fine Art.
