It can be rough on a little one (or big one) getting ready to go to a new school for the first time. My oldest has always had a hard time on the first day of school. Starting in Kindergarten we had a picture taken of us together & taped it to the inside of her folder or in the pocket of her lunchbox. This way if the day was a little too long or she was missing home she could just take a peek & know I was there for her. She is going into 3rd grade now & we just took our new pic for her folder & lunchbox.
