State Scare Haunted Attraction Returns, More Terrifying Than Ever

State Scare Haunted Attraction Returns This October, More Terrifying Than Ever
Haunted meat factory features 25 demonic workers
and over 30 custom-designed rooms of interactive terror

State Scare Haunted Attraction, the biggest and scariest indoor haunted attraction in New Jersey, is back this year, with over 30 intricately designed rooms of interactive terror, occupied by 25 actors playing demonic meat factory workers. Sponsored by the State Fair Halloween Superstore, the haunt is located at 229 Main Street, Belleville, adjacent to the store.

The TERROR starts at 7 p.m. and will continue until 12 a.m. on weekends from September 30 until October 31.

Conceived and developed by New Jersey native and Hollywood special effects artist Anthony Giordano,
State Scare is a haunted attraction like no other.

“In State Scare, you are part of the attraction, as an
employee making your way through custom-designed rooms and hallways, each dedicated to the theme
of a day at work in an old food processing factory. From the moment you ‘punch in’ at the real 1930’s time clock, you are led through a hauntingly disturbing work experience,” said Al Dorso, president of State Fair Group.

Prepare to start the nightshift: The demonic workers draw visitors in, and make them part of the entertainment for the ultimate scare. New “employees” get yelled at to get back to work, asked to show their paperwork, and asked why they’ve wandered into certain areas. The actors, two of whom are amputees who use their special status to terrifying advantage, follow vistors and demand answers about what job they were hired for.

Giordano brings his world-class special effects talent from movies, TV and theatre, fashioning gruesomely realistic make-up and creating one-of-a-kind hand-made props and effects, including room after room of creepy antiques. The State Scare team keeps a running tally of how badly they scare people and post it nightly in their Facebook group, State Scare: Haunted Attraction.

“Since we opened in 2010, we’ve had 72 people who wet their pants, 62 people who cried, seven who vomited and one who passed out cold, and we don't count anyone 16 years or younger,” said Giordano.

Giordano is one of the East Coast’s premier special effects talents. His credits include: music credits for 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Metallica, Johnny Cash, David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey and Korn; Broadway credits including Young Frankenstein, Tarzan and Shrek the Musical; Saturday Night Live; and films including Spiderman 2, Scooby Doo 2 and the Last Samurai.
