Falling Tree Branch Injures 4th Of July Partier In Chatham

Chatham Borough police say the woman was taken to the hospital.

CHATHAM BOROUGH, NJ — A falling tree branch hit and injured a Chatham Borough resident during an Independence Day party on Tuesday, Chatham police said.

About 12 people were gathered at a Penn Terrace home on July 3 when a large tree branch fell and hit the roof and one person around 8:15 p.m. Two neighbors heard the commotion and helped get everyone out of the back yard.

One of those neighbors, a 47-year-old woman, was hit while trying to get out of the backyard. She was taken to Morristown Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries to her head, neck and back, police said.
