Fire Breaks Out In Chatham High School's Cougar Field House
A malfunctioning heating unit was to blame for the blaze, officials said.
CHATHAM, NJ - An electrical fire in the ductwork of the Cougar Field House at Chatham High School brought out first responders shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Monday morning, according to officials.
"One of our heating units malfunctioned and caught fire," Superintendent Michael LaSusa told Patch. "The fire was extinguished and we do not believe there is any significant damage to the facility."
According to authorities, the Green Village Fire Department was called in as well as the Summit Fire Department as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT). The RIT is a team of two or more firefighters dedicated solely to the search and rescue of other firefighters in distress.
