Florham Park Man Charged With DWI After 3-Car Crash: Chatham Cops

CHATHAM, NJ - A Florham Park resident was charged with driving while intoxicated after a three car accident on Saturday, according to Chatham Borough Police. Thomas J. McDonald, 57, was arrested at the scene of the crash at the intersection of Main Street and Fairmount Avenue by Officer Andrew Pereira.
According to police, Pereira responded to investigate the crash, and determined that McDonald was operating the car failed to stop and ran into the back of another car forcing it into a third car. During his interaction with McDonald, Pereira made several observations of intoxication and following a field balance evaluation, McDonald was placed under arrest, police said.
McDonald was transported to police headquarters for processing where he was issued a motor vehicle summons for driving while under the influence and reckless driving, police said. McDonald was released into the care of a relative pending a court appearance.

The Chatham Emergency Squad also responded to provide medical care and two people were transported to an area hospital for evaluation, police said.
