Helicopter Crashes Near Main Street In Chatham
Two people were on board at the time of the crash.

CHATHAM, NJ— A helicopter crashed on Main Street in Chatham just before 6:30 p.m. tonight.
It was not immediately clear what cause the crash landing, or the extent of the injuries, nj.com reported. Two people were onboard at the time.
“I think the pilot, from my vantage point, did a wonderful job landing this helicopter where he did and could have averted catastrophe,” an official told reporters during a press conference.

Officials confirmed that the pilot is a 54-year-old New Jersey man. He is cooperating with the FAA and the NTSB.
“It looked really low in the sky and it just kind of lunged forward, and we heard a bang. It sounded like it hit metal or something,” a witness told CBS New York.
