How to Support the Siblings of Children with Special Needs!
A free parent workshop will offer tips and support on managing the many issues faced by "typical" siblings of children with special needs!
Parents of children with special needs are invited to a workshop on Thursday, May 14, at 7 p.m., to get advice on how to support the other children in their family with challenges they may face throughout their lifetimes.
The workshop is co-hosted by ECLC of New Jersey’s school in Chatham at 21 Lum Avenue, for children with special needs, and SIBS NJ (Supportive Initiatives for Brothers & Sisters), a non-profit dedicated to providing the siblings of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental health conditions with information and support.
RSVP: Allison Weideman, aweideman@eclcofnj.org or 973-635-1700

SIBS NJ was founded by two sisters who have a sister diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Growing up they were lucky to have each other, but they didn’t have the opportunity to meet and connect with other siblings until later on in life. They have faced many challenges as well as great experiences due to having a sister with autism, and they decided that they had to do something to help other sibs who were going through similar experiences.
SIBS NJ seeks to help siblings connect with one another and to the resources they need to help them and their siblings with disabilities live full, meaningful lives.
