Madison Area YMCA Year End Performance "Give My Regards to Broadway"

Big beautiful Broadway through the years

The Manhattan theater district runs from 41st to 53rd streets between 6th and 9th avenues—but on Saturday, June 4, patrons only needed to arrive at the College of St. Elizabeth’s Annunciation Center in Convent Station to get a Broadway experience. The Madison Area YMCA’s fifth annual 2016 Year End Performance gave audiences a taste of big beautiful Broadway through the years.

Since its inception, Broadway gave many well-known musicals and actors their first successes before gaining great fame. The Madison Area YMCA might just be a start for some talented kids from our area. More than 300 performers from 2 to 15 years old took to the stage dancing, singing and acting. “Give My Regards to Broadway” featured Creative Movement, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Irish dance, Musical Theater and acting with music and costumes that reflected the glitz and glamour of Broadway.

Memorable numbers included: “We’re Not Gonna Take It from “Rock of Ages,” “Let’s Go Fly A Kite” from Mary Poppins, “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” from Annie, “We Represent the Lollipop Guild” from the Wizard of Oz, “Big Girls Don’t Cry” from Jersey Boys, “We Go Together” from Grease, “King of New York” from Newsies, “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid, “If My Friends Could See Me Now” from Sweet Charity and “I Have a Dream” from Mamma Mia.
