The Montessori Children's Academy Readies for Its Annual Celebration of Montessori Education Week

February 28th-March 5th marks Montessori Education Week 2016

Students and staff members at the Chatham, Morristown, and Short Hills campuses of The Montessori Children’s Academy (MCA) have been busier than ever putting the final touches on a series of special community projects in honor of Montessori Education Week, which will be celebrated February 28th – March 5th this year. We are excited to be joining thousands of private and public Montessori schools worldwide as we pay tribute to Dr. Maria Montessori and the educational method she pioneered over 100 years ago in Italy.

Today, the Montessori Method is celebrated as an innovative, effective, hands-on, cross curricular, and globally conscious educational philosophy which serves children from early childhood through elementary years and beyond. With its multi-age groupings and a rich, extensive curriculum, a Montessori education provides children with not only important academic knowledge, but also with the opportunity to develop social and civic responsibilities through a variety of peace activities and service projects incorporated into their daily routines. Montessori students gain a global awareness and from an early age learn to think for themselves and beyond themselves.

During the week of February 28th – March 5th, MCA will celebrate in a number of ways both within its schools and out in the community. Students will demonstrate classroom activities at each of the MCA campuses, and parents will be able to participate in special classroom observations. Student artwork will be on display at our neighborhood libraries for all to enjoy. In addition, the Deputy Mayor of Millburn will be visiting our Short Hills Campus. We will celebrate with a grand finale at Romanelli’s Pizza and Italian Eatery in Madison on March 5th where MCA families will join together in support of our school’s outreach service project benefiting St. Peter’s Orphanage. It is sure to be a magnificent week, and MCA is proud and honored to celebrate and spread a greater awareness of Montessori education.
