Multiple Theft Arrests: Chatham Borough June Police Blotter

Editor’s note: One person’s name was removed from this report because his or her charges were dismissed.

CHATHAM, NJ — Chatham Borough police made a number of arrests in June, including several for theft. Read about those arrests here, as written by police:

On June 1, 2018, Officer Joseph Crecca arrested Andres Valdez-Uribe, age 21, from Madison, New Jersey on three active arrest warrants. One was issued by the municipality of Madison Borough and the other two were issued by the municipality of Summit. Officer Crecca observed Mr. Valdez-Uribe using his cellular phone while operating a motor vehicle. The officer initiated a stop and a customary check uncovered the warrants. Mr. Valdez-Uribe was transported to police headquarters for processing. Mr. Valdez-Uribe posted the $100.00 bail for the Madison warrant. Regarding the Summit arrest warrants, the Summit court released him on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

On June 4, 2018, Detective Daniel Walsh arrested Pedro Alvarez, age 29, from Summit New Jersey and charged him with theft. The arrest is the result of an investigation that began in December of 2017. Mr. Alvarez, allegedly stole items, cash and made several fraudulent charges with the company credit card from his employer on River Road. An arrest warrant was issued in February of 2018 and on June 4th, Mr. Alvarez turned himself into members of the Morris County Sheriff’s Department. Detectives Walsh and Chase responded and processed Mr. Alvarez. He was later transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility and incarcerated.

On June 13, 2018, Officer Matthew Belcastro arrested Dallas Gibson, age 37, from Roselle Borough, New Jersey on an active traffic warrant issued by the municipality of Woodbridge. The officer was investigating a motor vehicle accident at the train station when a customary check uncovered the warrant. He was transported to police headquarters for processing. Mr. Gibson was unable to post the $ 150.00 bail, so he was transported and turned over to members of the Woodbridge police department.

On June 20, 2018, Detective Daniel Walsh arrested [Name Withheld], age 30, from Chatham Township, New Jersey and charged him with theft by deception, fraudulent use of a credit card, forgery and to give forth writings he knew to be forged. The arrest stems from an investigation which began on June 15th. [Name Withheld's] employer reported that an audit discovered that between January 1st and June 15th, 2018, [Name Withheld] allegedly charged non business related gift cards and merchandise value at more than $33,000.00. [Name Withheld] was interviewed, charged, processed and released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.

On June 28, 2018, Officer Wayne Shivers arrested Timothy Williamson, age 28, from Chatham Borough, New Jersey on an active traffic warrant issued by the municipality of Tinton Falls. The officer was patrolling Main Street when he encountered Mr. Williamson. Officer Shivers was aware of the warrant and approached Williamson to investigate. After verifying the warrant, Officer Shivers placed Mr. Williamson under arrest. He was transported to police headquarters for processing. The Municipal Court of Tinton Falls was contacted and released Mr. Williamson on his own recognizance pending a court appearance.
