New Mayor, New Committee Members As Chatham Township Reorganizes

CHATHAM, NJ - Mike Kelly is the new mayor and Tracy Ness will serve as deputy mayor as Chatham Township reorganized for 2020 last Thursday.

Also at the meeting, Stacey Ewald and Celeste Fondaco were sworn in to their first terms on the Township Committee. The Democrats were sworn in by U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill. The reorganization shifts the party balance 3-2 with Ewald, Fondaco and Ness Democrats and Kelly and Karen Swartz as Republicans.

Wasting no time, the new look Township Committee has scheduled a special meeting to address affordable housing on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. with an executive session held prior at 6 p.m. An addition special meeting will be held on Jan. 30 also for the purpose of discussing affordable housing.

The regular meeting on Jan. 16 will be a working meeting on financial planning and budgeting.
