Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township plans Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser

CHATHAM TWP. –The Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township (PCCT) will soon be on colorful display with hundreds of pumpkins and gourds as the congregation gears up for its 18th annual Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser to address hunger and need.

“This fundraiser’s ongoing success is made possible through the generous support of our community,” said Rev. Tom Brown, the church’s pastor. “We are deeply grateful to all who make our Pumpkin Patch their destination of choice when shopping for pumpkins and are so pleased to be able to forward 100% of the proceeds to hunger-related causes.”

Run entirely by dedicated volunteers, the Pumpkin Patch will be open Monday, Oct. 14 through Thursday, Oct. 31. The hours are:

• Monday – Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Three non-profit organizations benefit from all proceeds:

• nourish.nj (Morristown, NJ): This organization provides comprehensive services to address hunger, homelessness, and poverty, including food, housing, work readiness, medical, social, and educational support, 365 days a year.
• The Community Food Bank of New Jersey (Hillside, NJ): As the state’s largest anti-hunger organization, it works to alleviate hunger by distributing food to over 800 community partners throughout New Jersey.
• Pumpkin Patch Fundraisers, from which the church purchases the pumpkins and gourds. In cooperation with the Navajo Nation in New Mexico, the organization employs more than 700 Native Americans during harvest and throughout the year, which has a positive and lasting impact on a region with 42 percent unemployment.

In addition to purchasing pumpkins, community members are welcome to make direct contributions to support the cause.

The Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township is a vibrant, multi-generational congregation that celebrates the glory of God through faith, fellowship and service.
