Refrigeration Company Moves to Chatham

Preferred Freezer Services will move their corporate headquarters to Chatham effective Feb. 1.

The company will move to 1 Main Street, just off of Route 24, to an office space large enough to accommodate their burgeoning staff.

“We outgrew our [current] headquarters in Elizabeth,” Marketing Coordinator Gail Hannagan said. Various branches of the company’s corporate staff have been split between more than one branch, but now all will work out of the Chatham office.

The corporate staff who will work out of Chatham include information technology, logistics operations, sales, marketing, finance and the leadership team, a total of about 50 people, said Hannagan.

Preferred Freezer Services designs, constructs and operates temperature-controlled warehouses. The company was founded in 1989 and has offices in nine states, including New Jersey, as well as in China and Vietnam with an international staff of over 1,000 people.

The office building at 1 Main Street currently houses several law firms and business-to-business companies.
