Resident 'Was Shaking' at Scene of Carbon Monoxide Alarm
Nine units were evacuated, but there were no injuries.
Township fire officials evacuated nine units at Heritage Green Thursday after a carbon monoxide alarm went off at one of the buildings, but no one was hurt.
Fire Chief Jim Pignatello said a resident who lives in Building 5 at Heritage Green—which is part of the Chatham Glen condominium complex—came home to the sound of her carbon monoxide alarm going off. She immediately called 911, and the township Fire Department reported to the scene at about 5 p.m.
Fire officials immediately evacuated nine units in the building and went inside to test the carbon monoxide levels.

"[We] found very high levels of carbon monoxide throughout," said Pignatello.
Joyce Bruno, who lives in one of the evacuated units, said she was out when the alarm went off. She came home to find the fire trucks in front of her building.

"I was shaking because I drove up and saw three fire trucks," she said.
Pignatello said the fire department determined the carbon monoxide had been released after a plumber had been soldering pipes in the building's basement in the afternoon.
Fire officials said they released fresh air into the apartments to clear out the carbon monoxide. By 7:30 p.m., the residents were back in their homes.
