Running Car Stolen Outside Scoops In Chatham
The car was left unlocked, according to Chatham Borough police.
CHATHAM, NJ — Someone stole an unlocked, running car in the heart of Chatham, according to borough police. The theft took place in the early evening Tuesday outside of the Scoops ice cream shop on Main Street.
The vehicle was empty, authorities said. No other information about the alleged theft was immediately available. Patch reached out to the Chatham Borough Police Department for additional details and will update with any response.
Borough police echoed a frequent message from New Jersey law enforcement: lock your car doors, remove all valuables and take out keys/fobs. The messaging comes as Chatham authorities continue to report thefts of unlocked vehicles.

Two unlocked vehicles were stolen recently in Chatham, according to borough and township police: one from Edgewood Drive in the township, plus a BMW X4 snatched April 3 from the CVS parking lot on Main Street in the borough.
