Saladworks Retreats From Hickory Square

A new version of the store could open in Madison.

The Saladworks franchise in Hickory Square Shopping Center in the township closed its doors last month, but a new store could be on its way shortly.

Saladworks Public Relations Coordinator Erin Salvatore said the owner of the franchise is on the lookout for a new location. She said the owner decided not to renew the lease at 641 Shunpike Road, which expired in December. The store has been open there since 2002.

Salvatore said the the new location will likely be nearby, but it might not be in either the borough or the township. It could potentially move to Madison.

"We are looking for a new location in the Chatham-Madison area," Salvatore said.

A sign posted in the store while it was open identified the franchise owners as Richard and Claudia Hopkins of Skillman Salads I LLC.

Saladworks is not the only store in the shopping area that is being turned over. A sign outside Java Joe's on the west side of Hickory Square indicates the store's former space is open for rent, and Lil' Reading Scientists, a children's educational center, will soon open in the main area of the strip mall.

Saladworks offers customers a variety of salads, sandwiches, panini, hot wraps and pastas. The store's menus vary by location.
