Save The Children Club Launches At Chatham High School

The COVID-19 pandemic has not kept these students from service. And they need your help.

CHATHAM, NJ - Save The Children Club at Chatham High School is working to improve the lives of children and they are asking for community support to do so.

Kayla Friedman, Nina Javello, Natalie Sullivan, and Julia McNama and advisor Mallory Lynn run the Save The Children Club at Chatham High School which came from Friedman's interest.

Her grandfather used to be involved at the larger Save The Children organization and it has always been part of her life, the group said, noting that some members had the opportunity to visit other countries, and have seen what underprivileged children have to face in their day to day lives.

Those approached were very passionate about the idea and with the help of Lynn, were able to start the club, the group said. With the world dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, they decided that it would be beneficial to start a GoFundMe page to raise money for the organization. The money would go directly to the cause and help them fight against the coronavirus.

Goals:

  • The goal for Save The Children is to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, and economic opportunities, as well as provide emergency aid in natural disasters. The goal of our high school club is to raise more awareness in our school and community about this cause, to inform people about situations regarding underprivileged kids, and to raise money for the global Save The Children organization.

Fundraiser:

  • Go Fund Me- all the money will go directly to the Save The Children organization. They are using the money to help out with underprivileged children during the global pandemic by helping children residing in unsafe households, helping protect and prepare doctors and health clinics in areas that are affected from COVID-19, and help guide children through distance learning.

Those interested in supporting the group can visit their fundraiser page.
