See Where Chatham High School Ranks According To U.S. News

U.S. News has just released its rankings of the best high schools by metro. See how our community did.

CHATHAM, NJ - U.S. News has just released its annual ranking of high schools by metro area, and a number of high schools are included among the top 300 in the New York City and Trenton metro areas.

Separate from the publication's annual ranking of the best high schools in the country — published in April — the best high schools by metro area rankings released on Wednesday analyze how schools compare to each other in the same region. The New York City metro statistical area includes parts of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Chatham High School ranked at 47 on the metro area list. Chatham High School ranked 14 out of 350 in New Jersey and 351 out of the more than 20,500 ranked in the country as part of their last report on best high schools in the country.

Chatham also made the news recently with their SAT scores. Chatham ranked 11 out of 307 schools on the list for reading and writing with a score of 629. In math, students ranked 16 with an average of 627. Combined the test-takers ranked 16 with a total of 1256.

U.S. News says it used the same methodology to compile the metro-area rankings as it did for the national rankings. Metros areas were matched to their corresponding core-based statistical areas as defined by the government. The U.S. Census Bureau says metro areas and micropolitan areas (which have a population of between 10,000 and 50,000) are collectively referred to as core-based statistical areas.
