September 11 Week of Service and Remembrance

Volunteer Opportunities in Jersey City and Newark for 9/11. Service projects are a good opportunity to give back to the community

Registration is now open for September 11 Week of Service and Remembrance, 800 volunteers will unite and work together to make a positive change.

All projects will be on Friday, September 9th and Saturday September 10th in Newark and Jersey City. Projects include:

· Paint It Up in Newark-Volunteers will paint wall murals in school hallways, paint plywood murals to be hung on the playground fence, and paint the school’s multi-purpose room.

· Plant Protectors in Newark-Volunteers will weed and landscape throughout Branch Brook Park.

· Brushin’ Off The Past in Newark-Volunteers will weed and landscape a historical cemetery.

· Food Sortin’ Fun in Hillside-Volunteers will sort food donations for distribution to families in need.

· Paint And Plant in Jersey City-Volunteers will landscape a path around a school and paint checkerboards onto picnic table tops.

· Earth Keepers in Jersey City-Volunteers will landscape in Liberty State Park.

Sites have varying age limits. Please check before registering. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a youth waiver signed by their parent or guardian in order to participate. Click HERE to download a youth waiver.

On this particularly momentous 15th anniversary, volunteers will come together to make our communities stronger on a day that was intended to tear them apart.
