No Summons Issued in School Bus Accident

investigated two car accidents this week, one involving a school bus.

On Monday at 7:40 a.m., Patrolman Daryle Kelly investigated a motor vehicle crash on Lafayette Avenue involving a school bus, police said.

A 1998 Mazda driven by Philip Smith, 68, of Bricktown was slowing for traffic and was struck from behind by a school bus from the Morris Union Jointure, according to police.

The bus was driven by Maria Brito, 52, of Bayonne, and had only one child on board, police said.

There was only minor damage to the bus, no one was injured and no summonses were issued, according to police.

Accident at Main and Fairmount

On Wednesday at 5:49 a.m., Patrolman Brian Maher investigated a motor vehicle crash on Main Street at Fairmount Avenue, according to police.

A 1997 Nissan driven by Myrlene Previlon, 35, of Union, was waiting to turn left onto Fairmount Avenue when she was struck from behind, police said.

The second car was a 1986 Toyota driven by Yoda Chek, 46, of Bayonne, according to police.

There were no injuries and both vehicles were towed from the scene by Bauer Automotive, police said.

Chek was issued a summons for careless driving, according to police.
