Teenager, Juvenile Arrested for Stealing Skateboards

Two local youths were arrested for stealing skateboards from in front of the Cottage Deli, according to borough police.

Police said two juveniles reported they had left their skateboards in front of the deli and returned to find two people riding them away. They identified one of the two as a juvenile they knew from town, according to police.

Police said they found the suspect among a group of youths in front of The Library of the Chathams, and said they noticed another person trying to walk away from the scene.

They said they identified the second person as Dennis Schrader, 19, of Millington, and found there was a $4,500 warrant out for his arrest from New Providence. He was arrested and admitted he and the juvenile had taken the skateboards, according to police.

Police also said the juvenile admitted he had been involved in the theft.

Schrader was turned over to New Providence police after he was unable to post bail and will be charged with theft. The juvenile was turned over to his parents and will be charged by the juvenile officer, according to police.

Police said the skateboards were returned to their original owners.
