Teens Affirm Their Baptism on May 15 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is blessed to share the news that six of our teens will celebrate the "Affirmation of Baptism", Confirmation, on May 15. The teens have been participating in Christian Education classes for two years during seventh and eighth grade. The classes are held on Sunday evening and are taught by our Pastor, Rev. Dr. Christa M. Compton.

Over the past two years, the teens have learned about the fundamentals of our faith, including key stories from the Old Testament and the New Testament. We’ve learned about the Reformation, Martin Luther, and the origins of the Lutheran church. We’ve studied the Ten Commandments, the Apostles’ Creed, Holy Communion, Holy Baptism, and the Lord’s Prayer. We’ve also explored many practices that are central to a life of faith: reading the Bible, praying in different ways, identifying and sharing spiritual gifts, worshiping with others, caring for creation, and more. On May 15, the teens will affirm the Christian faith as their own. 

The teens also participated in youth ministry service projects and fun outings. Some of them went to Detroit, Michigan for a national gathering of thousands of Lutheran young people summer of 2015.
