Training Day(s) For Chatham Firefighters

The unstable weather allowed the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department to participate in wet and dry drills.

CHATHAM, NJ - The benefit of the varying weather temperatures is that the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department (CTVFD) was able to get varied trainings done in a short span of time.

Last week the CTVFD joined with members from 10 different agencies and Rescue Products International on the ice on Lake Hopatcong for Ice Rescue Technician level training. The agencies that attended included Kinnelon Vol Fire Co, Town of Boonton Fire Department, Teaneck FD, Brookside Engine Company 1, Union Fire Dept, Franklin Lakes Fire Department, Harrington Park Fire Dept., Hopatcong FD Defiance Engine Co. 3, Lake Parsippany Volunteer Fire Company District 3 and Morris Twp FD.

Then when the weather warmed up, the CTVFD took advantage to do some driver training. According to officials, before members can drive the fire trucks to calls, they must go through comprehensive training on driving, maneuvering, and operating all the various functions of the trucks.
