Two Cars Stolen In Chatham Sunday

One car was recovered still running with the keys in the ignition.

CHATHAM, NJ - A pair of cars were stolen from the driveway of Chatham Township residence Sunday and according to police, both cars were left with the keys in them.

According to the Chatham Township Police Department several unlocked vehicles were entered and two cars were stolen during the overnight night hours between Saturday and Sunday.

One vehicle was recovered a short distance from where it was stolen, running, with the keys in the ignition, police said.

The Chatham Township Police Department is urging residents to secure their belongings.

"The Chatham Township Police work diligently to keep the residents and their property safe. Please help us to help you from being a victim by taking away opportunities from would-be thieves," Chatham Township Chief of Police Thomas Miller said. "We are urging all residents to please double check that valuables, ignition keys and Proximity FOB’s are removed from their vehicle and that vehicles remain locked when not in use. If you see any suspicious or unordinary activities please report it to police immediately."
