Unlicensed Driver Drove Drunk In School Zone: Chatham Boro Police

Soha Salleem had no license, registration or insurance when she was stopped, police said.

CHATHAM, NJ - A 22-year-old Basking Ridge woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after an officer observed her weaving in her traffic lane on Feb. 9, according to the Chatham Borough Police Department.

According to authorities, Officer Matthew Belcastro observed the vehicle driven by Soha Salleem weaving within the traffic lane on Main Street and initiated a motor vehicle stop. Belcastro spoke with Salleem and conducted a series of balance tests, police said. She was then placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing and was administered a breath test and issued seven motor vehicle summonses, police said.

  • Driving while intoxicated
  • Driving while intoxicated in a school zone
  • Reckless driving
  • Failing to maintain the lane of travel
  • Failing to possess an insurance verification card
  • Filing to possess a driver’s license.

Salleem was later released into the care of a relative pending a court appearance, police said.
