Where Will Chatham High Graduates of 2011 Go to College?

Chatham High will graduate 246 students this year, and of those 246, 218 have shared their decision about where they will attend college.

Of those 218, five students will attend the County College of Morris, and five will attend the College of New Jersey. Four students will attend Rutgers University in New Brunswick, and one student each will attend Drew University and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Valedictorian Katie Hurt will attend Amherst College in Massachusetts, and salutatorian Sabhyta Sabharwal will attend Middlebury College in Vermont. Bates College, Colby College, Connecticut College, other members of the New England Small College Athletic Conference, will each be home to one incoming Chatham High graduate in the fall.

The most popular destination for graduates is Pennsylvania, which has 52 graduates going to different institutions throughout the state. The most popular Pennsylvania colleges are Pennsylvania State University at University Park and Villanova University, with eight graduates attending each, and Gettysburg College, with five graduates attending.

Ohio and Massachusetts are two other popular choices, with eleven students attending schools in each of those two states.

Thirty-seven students will attend universities in the south-eastern US, including two students in Washington, DC, five students in Florida and nine in Virginia.

Nine students will attend schools west of the Mississippi River, including four students attending colleges in California, two in Texas, two students attending the University of Colorado at Boulder and one in both Utah and Arizona.

Eight graduates will attend Ivy League schools in the fall. Two Chatham High graduates from the class of 2011 each will attend Cornell University, Dartmouth College and Princeton University, and one student from the graduating class plans to attend Columbia University and Yale University.

One student will attend American University in Dubai.
