10 Cherry Hill Residents Among 34 County Coronavirus Deaths

Camden County saw its highest death rate on Wednesday since the pandemic began.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Ten Cherry Hill residents were among 34 new coronavirus deaths reported throughout Camden County on Wednesday. It was the highest number of deaths related to the coronavirus in Camden County in one day since the beginning of the pandemic. The previous highest number was 32, which was reported last week.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, as well as with all of the Camden County residents who have lost a friend, family member, or loved one to this terrible disease,” Camden County Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “This is a devastating amount of loss in our community. There have been 147 deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 30 days. Even with vaccines being distributed, we must continue to fight this disease with every weapon at our disposal, and that means wearing masks and social distancing first and foremost.”

Thirty-five Cherry Hill residents were also among 333 new cases announced in the county on Wednesday, as Camden County officials planned to discuss the vaccine situation in the county.

“There is a lot of confusion regarding the vaccine rollout process and who is eligible to receive vaccination at this time,” Cappelli said. “We will be providing an update regarding this process and how eligible individuals can register to utilize the county site, which we anticipate will open in the coming week.”

The following information is available about the most recent coronavirus-related deaths in Cherry Hill:

  • Five women in their 90s;
  • A man in his 70s;
  • A woman in her 80s;
  • Two men in their 60s; and
  • A woman in her 80s.

As of Wednesday, 3,689 Cherry Hill residents have tested positive for the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic. Countywide, there have been 30,347 cases and 781 deaths since the pandemic began.

The Camden County Department of Health also announced that 2,051 residents and 1,090 staff members at the county's 56 long-term care facilities have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began. Since then, 398 residents and three staff members have died.
