13 New Cases Of Coronavirus Reported In Cherry Hill

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Thirteen Cherry Hill residents were among 107 new positive cases of new coronavirus reported in Camden County Sunday night.

As of Sunday, there have been 2,015 positive cases of the coronavirus reported in Camden County, with 80 deaths, according to numbers provided by county officials. No new deaths were reported on Sunday anywhere in the county.

“We are still in the heart of this crisis with new cases continuing to be identified every day. It remains as important as it has ever been for everyone to stay home and practice social distancing,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. said. “The Freeholder Board remains focused on expanding access to testing and reducing the spread of this insidious virus however we can. We are extremely grateful for our first responders, medical providers, and everyone who continues to work on the front lines of our fight against this virus. These selfless heroes continue to put their own safety at risk in an effort to protect others, and we are forever indebted to them for their sacrifice and service.”

Trace investigations are underway in all new cases, including ones involving the following Cherry Hill residents:

• Two men in their 60s;
• A man in his 30s;
• Four women in their 80s;
• A woman in her 40s;
• A woman in her 70s;
• A man in his 80s;
• A man in his 40s;
• A woman in her 20s; and
• A woman in her 60s.

How It Spreads

The virus that causes COVID-19 is spreading from person-to-person. Someone who is actively sick with COVID-19 can spread the illness to others. That is why CDC recommends that these patients be isolated either in the hospital or at home (depending on how sick they are) until they are better and no longer pose a risk of infecting others.

There is currently no vaccine for COVID-19.

While the best way to prevent illness is to avoid virus exposure, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention always recommends taking preventive actions to contain the spread of viruses.
This includes:

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Stay home when you are sick.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipes.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
