2 More Coronavirus Deaths Reported In Cherry Hill

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Two Cherry Hill residents were among six new deaths related to the coronavirus that were announced in Camden County Monday afternoon.

There were also 118 new cases announced countywide, but all numbers encompass the past three days' worth of reporting for the county.

“We are extremely saddened to announce the deaths of six Camden County residents caused by COVID-19 today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, and we are wishing a speedy recovery to everyone who has contracted this virus,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “Today marks our eighth consecutive day with fewer than 60 new cases in Camden County. We had just 12 days in all of April and May below this threshold. This underscores the progress we have made and the impact that successful social distancing and public health measures can have on this pandemic. We can keep these numbers down if we continue to keep apart, practice good hand hygiene, and wear a mask when in public. We have to stay vigilant in this fight to prevent a resurgence of coronavirus in our community, and that starts with each of us doing our part to stop the spread.”

A Cherry Hill man in his 60s and a Cherry Hill woman in her 90s were among the newest fatalities announced on Monday. The others included a Camden woman in her 60s, a Voorhees man in his 50s, a Winslow man in his 70s and a Laurel Springs woman in her 20s.

According to the Camden County Department of Health, 1,222 residents at the county’s 56 long-term care facilities have tested positive for the virus, and 262 have died. Another 454 staff members at these nursing homes have tested positive for the coronavirus, with three deaths.

Trace investigations are underway in all new cases. The most recent cases in Cherry Hill involved:

• A man in his 70s;
• A man in his 60s;
• A man in his 80s;
• A man in his 40s;
• A woman in her 20s; and
• A man in his 20s.
