2022 Budget Lowers Camden County Homeowners' Taxes, Officials Say

CAMDEN, NJ — The recently-passed Camden County 2022 budget represents a nearly 8% decrease from 2021 on the average assessed household in the county, according to the commissioners.

"That means a house assessed at $200,000 will have reduced county taxes of $120 and a home assessed at $500,000 will see a reduction of $300," a press release said.

The budget reduces the county levy by $5 million this year and puts it more than $15 million under the state-imposed tax cap, the press release also said.

In addition, “this budget document makes strong investments into the county’s critical infrastructure from roads and bridges to park improvements,” Camden County Commissioners Deputy Director Ed McDonnell said in the press release. “Ensuring that taxpayer funds are being utilized in a prudent manner and applying a healthy dose of fiscal discipline is vital to our budget process.”

The amount of the budget to be raised by the taxpayer is $310 million and the total budget is $418 million, a Camden County spokesperson told Patch.
