Increased Security At Cherry Hill Schools After Texas Tragedy

Gov. Murphy has tweeted that there is 'no credible threat' in New Jersey.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — There will be an increase in patrols in the vicinity of the Cherry Hill schools in the wake of the school shooting in Texas that left 19 children and two adults dead, said the Cherry Hill Police Department.

"We will be increasing our visible patrols and continuing to foster an excellent working relationship with the Cherry Hill School District Campus Police Department," said Cherry Hill Police Chief Robert Kempf. "I hope our presence brings some measure of comfort and
assurance to our students and their families."

Kempf said no "direct threats" exist to any Cherry Hill school in the wake of the incident and Gov. Phil Murphy tweeted Tuesday night that there "no credible threats" in New Jersey.

In Garden State communities where the New Jersey State Police is the primary law enforcement agency, troopers will ramp up their patrols around schools, acting Attorney General Matthew Platkin said.
