A 'Cult Leader And Traitor': Official Attacks Trump Ahead Of Proposed ICE Ban In Camden County

A resolution was scheduled to be heard Thursday.

CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — A Camden County official launched a verbal attack on President Donald Trump Thursday ahead of the introduction of a resolution to ban Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from municipal property.

In a statement ahead of Thursday's Board of Commissioners meeting, Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli, Jr. called for reform to fix what's been done by "cult leader and traitor, Donald Trump."

If approved, the resolution would ban ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents from entering, using, or accessing any non-public area of the County unless it's in accordance with a valid judicial warrant, judicial order, or otherwise authorized under law.

This includes the prohibition of any federal, state, or local government agents from being able to use any County property or facilities for a staging area, processing location, operations base, or any other similar use to act on immigration enforcement.

"This federal agency has wandered far from its mission to promote homeland security and public safety," Cappelli, Jr. added. "Their agents lack training, leadership, and accountability...they are often employing oppressive tactics reminiscent of the Gestapo."

County employees, contractors, agents of County departments, and representatives of Camden County College would be barred from using County property or resources to assist with federal, state, or local government civil immigration enforcement.

This would also apply unless a valid judicial warrant or judicial order is issued, or otherwise authorized by law.

"Right here in Camden County, ICE has torn families apart, hardworking members of our community have been wrongfully detained, and children have been left terrified to go to their school bus stop," said Cappelli, Jr.

Thursday's Board of Commissioners meeting begins at noon at 520 Market Street in the 6th-floor meeting room.

The community is welcome to attend in person or watch live online here.
