CHERRY HILL, NJ — Students from Cherry Hill High School West finished a mural at the Jefferson Health Cherry Hill Hospital on April 21.

Student volunteers began working on the multi-medium creation for a waiting room on the third floor in the Fall of 2025.

"From the planning stages, collaborating with others, figuring out what materials to use...it was such a great learning opportunity," Sydney Dunn-Kraus, one of the students who worked on the team, told Patch.

The idea behind the project started from a nurse manager, Rory Levinson, who felt that a different new kind of energy was needed in the windowless area.

"I hope the visitors...leave feeling refreshed, potentially even taking their mind off of the negative aspects of why they are visiting a hospital," Levinson told Patch.

The students used acrylic paint, glass mosaics, ceramic tile, and photo paper to bring the idea to life.

"I have two children of my own," Levinson added, "and I know, right now, there are people trying to do something similar for my children, giving them opportunities to grow. So I have a feeling of pride."

The mural represents a variety of seasonal images from the New Jersey and Philadelphia region, familiar scenes that Dunn-Krass hopes bring a feeling of comfort to families.

"I hope they feel a sense of community and support," Dunn-Krass added.
