Nearly 400 Employees Lose Their Jobs As South Jersey Distribution Center Closes

The food service facility will end operations.

SWEDESBORO, NJ — HelloFresh's food distribution center in Swedesboro is shutting down and laying off 374 employees, according to a notice filed with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) system in New Jersey.

The German business produces pre-portioned meal kits that are shipped directly to consumers.

Layoffs at the Swedesboro location will be effective on Nov. 17, 2027, although it is unclear when the process will begin.

A spokesperson for HelloFresh told Patch Journal that the decision to close the facility comes after a review of its efficiency, and the operations it handled will be blended in across the broader fulfillment network.

"We are deeply grateful for the contributions of our Swedesboro team members," the business said.

The company added that it will aid eligible employees from the 1130 Commerce Blvd. location with severance assistance, healthcare support, career resources, and internal opportunities where available.

Products from the brand "Green Chef," the specialty meal kit company bought by HelloFresh in 2018, were also distributed in Swedesboro.

HelloFresh also has a distribution center in Newark, with its United States headquarters also nearby in New York City.
