Camden Catholic Falls to Paul VI in Boys Basketball Playoffs

The Irish take a lead late, but can't hold on for the victory.

Camden Catholic’s Kyle Green had the hot hand in leading the Irish back in the second half against Paul VI in the South Jersey, Non-Public A playoffs Thursday night, but not even Green’s game-high 21 points were enough to get the Irish over the top.

Paul VI weathered the comeback and held on for a 52-49 win, bouncing the Irish from the playoffs in a battle of county rivals.

Camden Catholic trailed by eight at the half, chipped away at Paul VI’s lead in the third and took the lead briefly late in the game, but a potential game-winning shot missed the mark and Camden Catholic transfer Ivan Robinson made two free throws to seal the win for his new squad.

The loss ends what was a record-setting year for the Irish—coach Jim Crawford notched his 700th career victory in January, and Green, who is bound for Temple in college, finished out his career as the all-time scoring leader for Camden Catholic, with 1,734 points.
