Homicide Investigation Underway After Camden Co. Man Fatally Shot: Prosecutor

The victim died at the hospital hours after the shooting, authorities said.

CAMDEN, NJ — A man died Wednesday night after getting shot in Camden, authorities said.

Police responded at 6:07 p.m. to a ShotSpotter activation on the 1400 block of Louis Street, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office (CCPO). Shortly after, a man with a gunshot wound was dropped off outside the emergency room entrance of Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, the agency said.

The shooting victim — Esterlin Torres, 35, of Pennsauken — was then transported to Cooper University Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 8:39 p.m.
