Cherry Hill East Girls' Tennis Gets Top Seed in State Tournament

The Cougars won't have to worry about any road matches in the playoffs.

Cherry Hill East's girls' tennis team's dominant start to the season has paid off—the team won't face a single road match in the playoffs, barring a neutral site for the finals, after earning the No. 1 seed in the South Jersey, Group 4 tournament.

The Cougars draw in the bracket has them facing a familiar foe in No. 16 Shawnee, a team they beat earlier this season, 5-0.

Don't write off Shawnee for only having two wins, though—East had to go to three sets in two of the matches to get the sweep. Their first-round matchup will take place today at 3 p.m. at East.

If East gets past Shawnee, it would face the winner of No. 9 Millville and No. 8 Lenape in a match slated for Tuesday.

The Cougars also netted slots in the state individual and doubles tournaments—No. 1 singles Allyson Wolf and the No. 1 doubles team of Adele Boyarski and Lauren Romisher will head to Mercer County Park this weekend to start off the action in those tournaments.
