Cherry Hill Friendly's Closes Abruptly

The Friendly's on Route 70 in Cherry Hill is closed after being open for 15 years.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A Friendly’s that has been open for 15 years on Route 70 in Cherry Hill has closed abruptly. The company confirmed the closing to Patch on Monday, but a spokesperson wasn’t immediately available for further comment.

The restaurant was one of Friendly’s “franchise” locations, according to the company, meaning the individual who ran the restaurant was responsible for its everyday operation, including the sudden closing.

A sign taped to the window indicates the restaurant’s lease has expired, and a second notice advises employees to pick up their checks at the Marlton store, the Courier Post reports.

While no official reason was given for the restaurant’s closing, that particular location didn't exactly receive rave reviews on Facebook last year.

“Will never return to this location. Seated next to broken refrigerator that had horrible constant beeping sound,” one person wrote. “Took forever for hostess to return so that we could ask to move. Ordered burger w/ mayo. Rec. dry burger. Waited for mayo, by then burger was cold and person who was w/ me had finished. Waited so long for bill decided to just take ice cream w/ us. Floor also dirty and dirty tables left sitting too long. Ultimate insult — receipt asks you to complete a survey for feedback for $5. Complete the survey and find that the $5 is off a $25 future order.”

“This place was horrible I absolutely love friendlies but I will not be coming back to this location ever again. I will take the drive and go to Deford much cleaner and better service,” wrote another.

One person relayed the story of an elderly woman who fell through her chair, and was told by the manager, “Oops, I thought I fixed that.” Some even posted pictures of the conditions at the restaurant with their reviews.
